Crafting a Premium Studio Finish
A leading commercial gym partnered with Gym Wizard to upgrade the upholstery of Matrix benches within their V1BE Studio in Central Manchester. The studio required a premium, high-impact aesthetic that aligned with its energetic, boutique-style environment, while remaining robust enough to withstand intensive daily use.
The client trusted Gym Wizard not only to reupholster the equipment but also to design and implement bespoke embroidery and stitching, features that did not exist on the original pads. The challenge was to enhance visual identity without compromising durability or performance.
Our Approach
Following a detailed on-site assessment, Gym Wizard developed a tailored solution that combined upholstery design, material selection, and custom detailing.
We selected and sourced premium commercial-grade materials, carefully chosen for performance, compliance, and visual impact:
Naugahyde® Coated Fabrics
Selected for their superior quality, outstanding durability, and exceptional performance in commercial fitness environments. Naugahyde® provides excellent stain resistance and abrasion resistance, making it ideal for high-use studio equipment.
Boyriven Fabric
Chosen for its durability, regulatory compliance, and refined aesthetic, it delivers a professional finish suited to boutique studio spaces.

In addition to reupholstery, Gym Wizard designed and executed bespoke embroidery and stitching, introduced specifically for this project. The detailing was colour-matched and styled to complement the V1BE Studio aesthetic, while being engineered to remain hard-wearing and long-lasting under heavy use.
The final result featured matt black faces paired with grey suede sides, enhanced by custom embroidery and reinforced stitching that elevated both the look and perceived quality of the equipment.
All work was carried out on-site using our custom-equipped mobile reupholstery and repair vehicle, allowing the gym to remain fully operational throughout the process.
This on-site approach removed the need for equipment transportation, reduced downtime, and ensured the upgrade was completed efficiently with minimal disruption to studio classes and wider gym operations.
