Andrew’s Guide to the Reupholstery Process
Step 1: Initial Furniture Analysis and Consultation
- Each piece of furniture is analysed on-site to determine its reupholstery requirements.
- Customers can browse a selection of sample fabrics and finishes to choose the ideal reupholstery solution for their needs.
Step 2: Collection and Temporary Furniture
- The furniture is collected from the customer’s location.
- If needed, temporary replacement furniture can be left in place for the duration of the reupholstery process.
Step 3: Stripping Down the Furniture
- The furniture is carefully dismantled.
- Old fabric and worn materials are removed, leaving the frame ready for restoration.
Step 4: Structural Enhancements
- If required, new or additional webbing is added to strengthen the frame and improve comfort.
- Foam is assessed and either replaced or steamed to restore its original shape.
- Steaming the foam rejuvenates it and promotes a sustainable approach by reducing waste.
Step 5: Reupholstery Process
- A template is created using the previous fabric covering to ensure a precise fit.
- Nap matching is meticulously performed to align the fabric’s texture and direction correctly.
- Fabrics are then cut, and stitched, and, where necessary, piping trim is added for a polished finish.
Step 6: Recovering and Completion
- The furniture is carefully recovered with the selected fabric.
- Each piece is inspected and finished to meet high-quality standards before being returned to the customer.
